SE Giftcards Win 2014 Paybefore Award for Virtual Zagat Dining Card

We just got back from Vegas where we attended the All Payments Expo along with a ton of clients, partners, former colleagues, and friends. It was a busy show, for sure, but we were able to find some time to have a little fun. One of the bright spots for us was the recognition of our client, SE Giftcards, by Paybefore in their 8th annual Paybefore Awards. On Tuesday, Paybefore announced the Best-in-Category winners for the 20 award categories. SE Giftcards, i2c, and Visa together took top honors in the Top Digital Dollars category for the Zagat Dining Card, a virtual gift card.
The Zagat Dining Card is the first nationwide virtual restaurant gift card program in the United States. Consumers and businesses may personalize and purchase the cards online at www.zagatdiningcard.com for delivery to their recipients via email, with the option of requesting a plastic card. The Zagat Dining Card can be redeemed at 300 (and rapidly growing) participating restaurants across the United States. Redemption will be accomplished initially by presenting the email in printed or mobile form and there will be a mobile checkout option, allowing consumers to redeem their cards by scanning a QR code on a tablet or mobile device.
The program, in addition to being unique in the restaurant gift card market, is also unique in the many benefits that it brings to consumers and restaurant stakeholders. For consumers, the card gives them the freedom to choose where they spend their gift cards, offering them more choices than ever in terms of cuisine, dining experience, and location. Tech-savvy consumers like it because they no longer need to carry around a plastic card or remember to print anything out. For restaurants, the Zagat Dining Card provides access to new customers and the ability to accept payments from customers by scanning mobile phones, something they say will help facilitate a smoother redemption experience. Restaurants also like that the card program automatically tracks the commission payments they owe and provides reporting that allows them to verify & reconcile the payments.
